Which motorcycle oil is right for your engine?

How is motorcycle oil suitable for your engine?

Lubricant is a very important component of motorcycle engines and some other machinery equipment. Therefore, choosing the right lubricant helps to increase the life of the engine in all harsh conditions.

hops

There are 3 basic types of lubricants on the market today:

1. Mineral base oil

The cheapest advantage but unstable, and quickly degraded.

2. Semi-synthetic oil

Mid-range quality, oil change time is also longer than mineral oil.

3. Fully synthetic oil

As the most advanced product with strict requirements, it has high lubricity, long service life and low loss. The downside is the very high price.

It is important to understand 2 parameters of API performance level and SAE viscosity grade

API performance level

API (American Petroleum Institute) performance class is used to classify oil quality. On the oil bottle, it is usually indicated with the API grade, for example, “API SN/CF”. The symbol “S” represents the line of lubricants for gasoline engines and “C” for diesel engines.

Viscosity Grade SAE

The SAE (American Society of Automotive Engineers) viscosity grade indicates the viscosity of an oil.

For example, the parameter is SAE 10W-30, 15W-40, etc. The first digit indicates the lowest temperature at which the engine can still start normally, determined by subtracting 30. For example, 5W type good start at -25 degrees C (take 5 minus 30), 10W good start at -20 degrees C (take 10 minus 30), … Behind the letter W is the main part, representing the thin consistency of the oil viscous. The higher the number, the more special it is.

The last symbol is JASO (Japan Motor Vehicle Standards Agency). JASO standards are divided into 4 levels: JASO MA, JASO MA1, JASO MA2 and JASO MB. Each level will tell how much friction is suitable for the clutch on your car.

What type of lubricant should be used for large displacement motorcycles?

You can't wait to see it.

In terms of structure, a large displacement engine has a larger physical structure than a conventional car engine. Therefore, the consumption is more, the power and torque produced is higher, so the heat generation is higher. Therefore, a good heat dissipation system is required, the engine construction material must be high heat resistant, have good heat dissipation ability and withstand large vibrations.

The commonly recommended large displacement motorcycle lubricants are: SAE 10W40, 10W50, 15W50, 20W50, 10W60.

Hope the above information will help you.
